MessageSujet: du son?   Jeu 11 Nov 2010 - 23:17

Exoray a écrit:
Back from the dead...

The nolle prosequi open once again for business announcement...

10 already configured tracks...

01 Pack Start (movie)
02 Pack Shutdown (movie)
03 Wand Fire (movie)
04 Wand Shutdown (movie-ish)
05 Pack Start v2
06 Pack Shutdown v2
07 Wand Fire v2
08 Wand Shutdown v2
09 Loopable Ambient Hum (movie)
10 GB Theme Song

As for the sounds they are based on these with some slight tweaks here and there if needed...

The "movie" sounds are from the Official Sony FX sound library...
The v2 are game sounds, a mash of what I liked...
I believe the "movie-ish" is also a game sound but it's real close to the movie sound...

By default the sound kit will use the first bank of 4 sounds, if you want to use the 2nd bank you will have to do some slight mods to the kit, the mods will involve cutting 4 clearly marked traces on the board and installing 4 jumper wires on the boards header pins as seen in pic 3... Alternately you can use any momentary button to trigger any of the 10 tracks using the installed header pins, or use the header pins as points to hook up your other brand light kits... The hum sound is loopeable so if you want to install a toggle switch you could flip the toggle and it will play continuous until you do something else, but it WILL NOT resume after you play another track automatically you would need to re-toggle the switch...

The board has a 5ish Watt amplifier on board, please remember it's a "budget sound kit" the amplifier is hardly hifi but it does produce significant volumes for what it is annoyingly loud enough that I have not been testing at full volume... Also if you turn it up all the way it will distort , the manufacture of the chip says 10% distortion at full volume, that is pretty normal for lower end amplifiers and it is something you can hear... If you want hi-fi stereo quality sounds you will need to wait for my Deluxe sound kit, the goal here was to produce a budget level kit that had satisfactory sounds, and deliver it for under $100 fully plug and play... I just want to say don't totally under estimate 5 Watts, it's actually quite respectable in volume...

As you might have guessed by the picture the actual sound module is removable from the interface board, and I'm not making any guarantees (as I have zero first hand knowledge or hands on) but it just 'might' be compatible with another sound module that is out in the wild...

The sound kit will share your pack light kit battery, no need for another battery pack!

Both parts of the sound kit, the sound module and the interface board will be sold separately or as a combined package deal, the jumper wires to switch to the other bank of sounds will also be offered to those that inquire and don't want to source their own or hard wire the changes...

Sound Module: Just the sound module pre-loaded with default sounds... $40

Interface Board: Interface board for the sound module to my light kits with onboad amplifier.... $50

Combined Unit: Sound module and Interface board.... $80

Video to follow in the next 24 hours once I get it edited down...

it wouldn't be hard, his kit will work with any light kit, he has a phone line connector that interfaces with his light kit, so all you would have to do is, figure out which wire does what and hook it up to switches accordingly, also, i think you would be able to connect wires directly to the connectors on the left side of the board labeled 1-10, as those are direct links to the sound modules sound banks. no harder then a bread board setup and the amp is already there..... also, aj quick of gbfans is having a sound kit made, very similar to this one, and even cheaper and it would come with the sound chip, and interface board and amp for around 50 bucks. supposed to be ready for decemeber......

As for me, I must say I'm completely lost with all the available kits out there. How to avoid buying kits that ends up being non compatible ? Could someone be kind enough to do a recap ? o_O

sure davlin!
there is the hyperdyne kit......really expensive, like 3 or 4 hundred bucks!! will work with the hyperdyne light kit, lots of special features but to me totally not worth it. the light kit as expensive too.

there is the replica props chip, probably the most popular choice out there, 50-60 bucks depending on if you want the theme song or not, will work with any kit, will require special toggle and push button swithches (dpdt) and a bread board, if you get a proptronix light kit, he also makes an adaptor so the chip is plug and play.....

the is now the exoray chip, a cheaper alternative, but not always available, optional board for plug and play with exoray light kits, but i'm sure it can be easily modified to work with any light kit, with those speacial swtches, and the adaptor board has a built in amp. 40 for the sound chip (similar to replica props chip) and another 40 for the adaptor boad/amp.

and come december, there will be for a limited time, the gbfans sound kit, very similar to exorays kit, built in amp, 50 bucks, chip included. will be compatible with any kit, special switches required, and there might be a line input for and mp3 player for music.

hope that helps :D

I wouldn't want to get a premade module for the simple that those are never made for what you want to use, and that its bigger. the audio module is the size of a normal chip and can be mounted on a board, I'd opt for that, and fit it inside the gun with the existing light board.

But that's me...

@ Jessejames51 : Thanks a lot ! It helped me to have a clearer picture in this matter. :)

@ Dr Lauzon : I, as well, think that if there is so much buttons on the thrower, they should be used and not only for decoy. :)

for sure davlin! i agree, my thrower for example, the lay out is as follows, the red button on the gun ear plays the vent sound from the video game, the trigger box, activate turns on my lights and power up sound, and turns off the lights and plays power down sound, intensify turns on my firing lights and sound, with a power down when you release the button, and the other two switches on the gun body plays the theme song, and an alternate power on sound.
